The City of Burlington will have 3 openings on City Council for the June 9, 2026 election date! Positions take over on July 1, 2026. Petitions can begin circulating January 1st! If you or someone you know is interested, please print the necessary forms below and submit to City Hall no later than April 6, 2026 at 4:00pm to get your name on the ballot.

Summary of Duties

This position will report directly to the Director of Public Works. Candidate should be:

Friendly & approachable, able to interact with the public

Observant to ensure rules are followed & equipment is functioning properly

Reliable & able to work independently or under minimal supervisor

Able to be outdoors for long periods of time

Able to lift 25-50 lbs

Able to safely operate hand tools & small groundskeeping machinery, such as a riding lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower, etc.

Additional Splash Pad Duties if Willing or Able

This position will report directly to the Director of Public Works. Candidate should be:

Capable of testing, recording, & interpreting water quality after training

Able to work: days, evenings, & weekends on a rotating schedule

BUT with the passing of SB 2180, public comment cards/forms must be filled out 1 week prior to City Council meetings in order for your voice to be heard that evening. Forms can be found under ‘Residents’ - ‘Forms’, or by clicking the link below:

Without the proper forms submitted PRIOR to any city council meeting, your voice cannot be heard.
